WHY WE LOVE MENTORING

I know we go on and on about mentoring, you really cannot blame us it is because we love it so much. By the time you are done reading this, we hope you would have fallen in love with mentoring, just as much as we have. Mentoring is a win-win situation everybody wins, both mentors and mentees alike. There are benefits to be enjoyed by both parties; they both enjoy development and growth.

Mentoring is a time and life-saver. How nice would it be if we came into this world with a blueprint, something to show us the exact paths we are to tread? It would be super! Well, we do not have that, but we have mentors. Those who have gone ahead, and can help us circumvent avoidable mistakes- that would otherwise waste your time, and slow you down. In a mentoring relationship, you receive practical advice, encouragement, and support. What is there not to love?

Mentorship is as much as about giving, as it is about receiving. The mentor, while sharing from his wealth of knowledge and relevant experience, will become a better leader, and would see things in a different and better light.

Mentoring would also help you as a mentor, develop your interpersonal skills, and help you gain recognition for your ability and expertise. Are we forgetting the fulfillment and satisfaction that comes with helping someone else?

Jesus Christ mentored 12 men, who went on and became huge successes, it would be notable if every leader, took a person(s) under their wings as Jesus did. If there is a perfect way for a society or organization to secure its future, it is by mentoring the next generation. That way, there is an assurance that they would not derail because you have ingrained them with your values and tenets.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not turn from it.”

Proverbs 22:6

Have I mentioned accountability? A lot of businesses fail as a result of unaccountability. But this is a problem that mentoring helps to eradicate. Knowing you are accountable to someone, especially one you would not like to disappoint, can push you to succeed.

A mentor is usually someone more successful in the field you are in or want to be mentored. It could be a great source of inspiration. Imagine Jeff Bezos being your mentor, by seeing the success that he has become will most likely jeer and encourage you to become a success like him.

Mentoring has been here for a while. We love sturdy, long lasting institutions, mentoring is one of such. It has been helping lives for years and still is. It is not something that would go with the wind or wash away with the tide it can be trusted.
