Don’t box yourself – Switch or Expand
Did you know that your DNA (a material that carries all the information about how a living thing, including you, will look and function) could stretch from earth to the sun and back- 600 times? If unwound and linked together, the strands of DNA in each of your cells would be 6 feet long. With 100 trillion cells in your body, that means if all your DNA were put end-to-end, it would stretch over 110 billion miles. That’s hundreds of round trips to the sun![1] Your brain neurons (neurons are cells that transmit signals) can create and send more messages than all the phones in the entire world [2]. If you are looking for a miracle, don’t look far, look at yourself. No matter the feat that anyone living or dead has achieved, you have the potential to make something of the same or even greater magnitude! After all, of the 3 billion base pairs in the human genome, only 0.1% are unique to us. While 0.1% is still what makes us unique, it means we’re all more similar than we are different [3].
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 (NLT)
You are unique because God has given you all that you need to live life to the fullest. Why should you box yourself when you are made for more? Your brain never stops changing; it is fluid, comprising 75% water- can’t you see you weren’t made to be static? You were made to be creative! You can do many beautiful and amazing things. Creativity is not limited to the arts, music, or other ‘creative’ fields as they are called; it applies to every aspect of life. Creativity is a way of life that defies obstacles and brings something out of nothing. It is the pathway to excellence and expression of possibilities.A creative power resides inside of you, believe yourself, you are worthy of all the greatness that God has deposited inside of you. Now, more than ever, you have to live courageously and fearlessly. If you aren’t living life to the fullest, I present to you two remedies – Switch or Expand. Don’t box yourself.
To achieve excellence in life, you always have to remember that you have the power of choice—the choice to switch or expand. If there is anything that you do without a sense of fulfillment, you are free to switch to something else that will permit your creative juice to flow. And, if you think you have found something worth doing, don’t hold back, expand your capacity, and achieve greatness. Many find it difficult to switch because of the ‘investments’ they have made into their past. You have to know the difference between ‘sunk cost’ and assets. Your history is past. Don’t make excuses, don’t resist yourself. Be true to yourself. Don’tfall into the ‘what other people will say’ trap. Remember, it’s your life; you will be accountable for it ultimately.
You are not defined by your past but prepared by your past
Joel Osteen
In whatever you do, remember you are a being of endless possibilities. You can always do more. There is the extra mile that can guarantee better results, excellence, and differentiate you from the crowd. Maximize your strength, accept your weakness, work on them, or manage them. Regardless of who you are, where you are, and where you are heading to, whenever you choose to switch or expand, remember you will need help on the way – You need a mentor. It would help if you had someone who has successfully done what you want to do. A mentor removes you from the ‘trial and error’ path and set your feet on the tried, tested, and trusted way. A mentor gives you access to the magic of discoveries that will transform your life. Whatever it is that you want to achieve is not entirely new; it has been done before in some way, and you can learn to do the same or even take it to the next level.
Now is the time for you to switch or expand. Who are you waiting for?
